The Global Footprint or Ecological Footprint methodology provides a universal methodology for calculating the impact of nations, states, towns and even individuals using comparative metrics of either:

  1. The number of hectares of land one needs to support their lifestyle and activities.
  2. The number of Earths required to support the lifestyles and activities of an individual, town, state or country if all people consumed at the same rate.
